Relational Neuroscience Education & Training for Schools
Practical, brain-aligned professional development that helps educators, learning support and wellbeing staff, and school leadership build a shared relational language — one that strengthens the SEL work you're already doing.
As a school leader or wellbeing lead, you're likely holding a lot at once — behaviour support plans, staff burnout, an SEL program that reads well but doesn't always translate into the classroom, and a school community asking for more than a single PD day can deliver. You already know that regulation and relationship come before learning. Turning that understanding into a genuine whole-school practice, one that reaches classroom educators, learning support staff and executive leadership alike, is often the missing piece.
With over two decades of clinical experience and advanced training in trauma-informed practice, Polyvagal Theory, and relational neuroscience, I work alongside schools and early learning services to translate the science of the developing brain and nervous system into practical, embedded strategies. Together, we build a shared language around regulation and relationship that runs from the classroom floor through to the leadership team, so brain-aligned practice becomes part of how your school works, not just something staff heard about once.
What Makes This Different?
Grounded in the Brain and Nervous System
My training draws on Polyvagal Theory, attachment neuroscience, and trauma-informed education, using frameworks like the Window of Tolerance, the Hand Brain, and Regulate → Relate → Reason. Every strategy is grounded in how the brain and nervous system actually develop and respond under stress.
Built to Last Beyond the Workshop Day
This isn't a single PD day that fades by term two. I work with schools over a workshop series, coaching, reflection tools, and follow-up consultation, so the learning is embedded into everyday practice rather than filed away.
Educators, Wellbeing Staff, and Executive Together
Relational wellbeing isn't only a classroom issue. I work across your school community, with classroom educators, learning support and wellbeing teams, and executive and leadership, so everyone shares the same understanding and language.
Built Alongside Your Existing SEL Program
Rather than replacing what you already run, I work alongside your existing SEL framework, identifying where relational neuroscience can strengthen what's working, and where a nervous-system-informed lens might fill a gap.
What You Can Expect
In our work together, we will:
Build a Shared Relational Language
Help your staff shift from "what's wrong with this student?" to "what's happening in their nervous system?" — a change that reshapes how behaviour is understood and responded to school-wide.
Strengthen Your Existing SEL Program
Review what you're already running and identify where relational neuroscience can deepen its impact, rather than adding another disconnected initiative to the calendar.
Support Your Learning Support and Wellbeing Team
Case-based coaching and consultation for the staff carrying your most complex behavioural and emotional presentations.
Bring Executive and Leadership Into the Conversation
Leadership-focused sessions that build understanding of relational wellbeing at a systems level, so decisions about policy, culture and resourcing are informed by the same framework.
Translate Theory into Classroom-Ready Strategies
Practical, brain-aligned tools staff can use the same day, alongside the underlying "why," so the strategies make sense and stick.
Build Sustainable, Whole-School Practice
Follow-up consultation, reflection tools and staff surveys to help embed the learning long after the initial training is delivered.
Extend the Conversation to Families
Optional parent and community evenings that bring the same brain-aligned language home, so children experience consistency between school and home.
Work at a Pace That Fits Your School
Whether it's a single leadership session or a full-year program across staff, wellbeing teams and families, the scope is shaped around your school's needs and calendar.
Ways We Can Work Together
If you're ready to build relational neuroscience into your school community, I offer:
Whole-Staff PD Workshops
Relational neuroscience and nervous-system-informed workshop series for educators, tailored to your school's context and delivered across a term or year.
SEL Program Integration & Enhancement
A review of your current SEL framework, with practical recommendations for embedding a relational neuroscience lens within it.
Learning Support & Wellbeing Team Coaching
Ongoing case consultation and coaching for the staff supporting your most complex student presentations.
Executive & Leadership Consultation
Strategic sessions with your leadership team to build relational wellbeing into school culture, policy and planning.
Parent & Community Evenings
Optional sessions that extend the same brain-aligned language to families, strengthening consistency between home and school.
Ongoing Consultation & Follow-Up
Dedicated consultation time to support staff in applying what they've learned to real classroom moments as they arise.
Why Work With Me
Relational wellbeing in a school isn't built in a single workshop. It's built in the everyday moments between staff and students, and in the culture leadership creates around them. My approach is direct, practical, and grounded in the neuroscience of how people actually regulate, connect and learn.
"I'm not here to hand your school a framework and leave. I'm here to help you build one that fits your community, and lasts."
